This song was inspired by my very dear friend Patricia Thornton after a conversation I had with her in 2001. She had been sharing with me some of the challenges she was facing in her relationship at the time. It’s the same challenge most of us face at one point or another where we feel like we give so much to a relationship and get so little in return. The song was originally recorded by Karen Kane in 2002. The chorus I wrote then was very weak and didn’t deliver any sense of “lift” and “excitement”. I composed this chorus in October of 2009 while driving on a day when I was feeling on top of the world. I LOVE this new chorus for its sheer energy and soaring melody! The rich harmonies were composed and sung by the very talented duo of Michael Holt and David Celia.
